We had a great first week together! It was very busy practicing for the Christmas concert, working on our literacy "Blitz", and building in science. Ask your child what grade 2/3 teacher is their blitz teacher. My group has been learning about reader's theater and focusing on reading with expression. They did so great that all the grade 1's came and watched them perform on Friday! Keep checking back I will try and update our website weekly. I am also using the "Remind 101" app, please let me know if you need help using it.
-Send a labeled water bottle, gloves, and outdoor shoes/boots to school each day
-Library books are due back Monday mornings
-Try and read 15 minutes each night
-Friday letters are coming home each week and the students enjoy your responses
-We are looking for a black pair of snow pants that have gone missing, please double check backpacks!
Thank you for your support!
I am excited to be back teaching grade 2/3. I am returning from a maternity leave with my 3rd child "Baby Parker". This will be my 12th year of teaching and my 4th year teaching at Park Meadows Elementary School. I love the energy of the classroom and helping my students learn and grow each day. I look forward to getting to know your children better and helping them to continue to be kind, confident, and curious learners! Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns and we can set up a time to meet.
The best way to reach me is email: firstname.lastname@example.org
It has been a great two days of school! I have loved getting know all of the sweet faces in our class. Please review the welcome packet and send the info sheets back so I can get to know your littles even better. Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you have any questions! Thanks!
Hi Class! It was great to see you all the other week. Parker enjoyed meeting you. I hope you have a fun Valentine's Day and great Spring Break.
Take Care, Mrs. Lynch
If you can volunteer to help run a science station next Thursday morning please let Mr. B or Mrs. Fletcher know. Thanks!
Our 1st spelling test of the year will be on Thursday, October 26th. The word lists and instructions on how to sign into Spelling City were sent home last Thursday. I encourage you to practice these words with your child this week. We will be signing into this program in the computer lab to complete our assessment. Please access the following link to see the lists again or find a fun learning game to play!
Writer's Workshop with the focus on narrative writing. We have strategies such as writing partners, heart maps, the tiny notebook, and the five finger planning tool to help us S-T-R-E-T-C-H out our small moment writing.
Daily independent reading to help us build stamina. The students LOVE to read to their friends and book buddies and enjoy visiting our learning commons and Bookmobile. Ask your child if they know what text features are and if they can give you an example out of our big book "Inuksuks- A Guide to Artic Canada".
We have been very busy practicing skip counting (getting ready for multiplication), learning about odd and even numbers, double digit addition, ordinal numbers, problem solving, and a class favourite: Number of the Day.
Mapping and all about Canada. Ask your child how many Provinces and Territories we have in Canada. I bet they can even name some capital cities!
"Kids in the Know" with Mr. B and Mindfulness with Ms. Oviatt. We have really been focusing kindness and how to treat others and be a nice friend at school.
We have been busy learning lots and working hard. Thank you for your support with reading 15 minutes a night at home! Spelling lists are on their way home very soon. For now ask your child to show you how to sign into Spelling City and practice playing a few spelling games on your computer or phone. Storyline Online is also a nice way to do home reading to change it up!
